Everything You Need to Know About CBD-Infused Drinks

CBD-infused drinks are becoming increasingly popular and available for purchase, thanks to the legalization of CBD and hemp-based products as detailed in the 2018 Farm Bill. They can also include water and soft drinks.

There are several ways to consume CBD through a variety of premium CBD products. Mixing CBD with food and drinks is the easiest way to implement CBD every day. With CBD being added to almost everything, CBD’s culinary uses are rapidly becoming a big deal. What are CBD-Infused Drinks and How Do They Work?

CBD-Infused Drinks Do Exactly What They Say.

CBD is a non-toxic compound that comes out of Cannabis sativa. The type of CBD that the Farm Bill made legal comes from industrial hemp, which contains a negligible amount of the intoxicating tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC.

The CBD molecules interact with cannabinoid receptors in the body that make up the endocannabinoid (ECS). The ECS and CBD can work together to provide many benefits for wellness.

Can CBD-Infused Drinks Be Made?

Making a CBD drink is as simple as mixing a few drops of CBD oil with liquids. You’ve likely seen this done at bars and lounges. However, large-scale CBD drinks are made in a different way. You’ve probably tried mixing oil and water. The oil usually sits on top. Even though you vigorously stir the two together, the oil will not dissolve completely and will rise to the top within a few minutes. To truly infuse CBD oil, drinks must contain water-soluble CBD.

What is Water-Soluble Cannabis?

Water-soluble CBD can be described in the same way as CBD-infused beverages. It is water with CBD that has been dissolved. It is not easy to create it. It involves dissolving the CBD isolate in a naturally derived oil, which is usually without flavor or color. Then nanotechnology is used to create nanoparticles from the oil. This stabilizes the additive and doesn’t alter its taste, color or consistency. The CBD molecules are broken down into very small particles. These tiny particles enable CBD to disintegrate completely and bond with water molecules. When CBD is mixed with water, it becomes hydrophilic, which increases the bioavailability. Bioavailability refers to how much of a chemical you absorb. CBD ingestion has the lowest bioavailability. This is due to the fact that CBD compounds must undergo “first-pass metabolism” before they can enter the bloodstream. Not to mention that the human body is about 60 percent water, so a water-based CBD solution would tend to work better than an oil-based one, right?

The theory is that water-soluble CBD may allow for greater absorption. It does this at a faster rate than the CBD-soluble CBD, meaning that CBD will be absorbed much quicker and you’ll feel the benefits sooner. Because the body absorbs CBD more this way, the CBD in the product is less necessary for the user’s to achieve the desired results. Although this outcome might be more favorable for the buyer than the seller at the moment, it is only theory and there is no evidence.

CBD-Infused Drinks: A Trend or Here to Stay?

Financial analysts believe that the CBD drink market could reach upwards of 22 billion dollars by 2022. And within that industry is the CBD beverage market, which experts also believe could be worth up to 260 million dollars by 2022.

Although there’s potential for growth and it is expected to grow, it is still early to predict if CBD-infused beverages will continue to boom as they are. However, if people want to live a healthier lifestyle, it’s better to have more options than fewer.
